Role Summary:

As a Data Lake Operations Engineer in the Data & Analytics domain within the Budapest Digital Hub, You will work closely with the team and different GE businesses to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions. You will be a member of an integrated squad (data scientists, data engineers, software engineers and a product owner) to deliver successful outcomes driving efficiency and creating new revenue streams.

infrastructure running for our business stakeholders.

Your day to day tasks will involve:

  • Operate state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions leveraging big data tools andtechnologies in the Data Lake.

  • Demonstrate technical expertise across data lake technologies to efficiently troubleshoot andimprove application performance and availability.

  • Follow ITIL standards for change, problem, request, incident management.

  • Define root cause failures and develop solutions for proper controls/prevention.

  • Work across multiple cross-functional and cross-business teams in high visibility roles and ownthe data solution end-to-end.

  • Provide daily break fix support to multiple businesses of the Data Lake that hosts solutionsfrom ingestion through consumption.

  • Seek and deliver continuous improvement opportunities to optimize application performance,data quality & accuracy, application availability and operational optimization.

  • Develop and/or enhance support process standards, communication, tracking, escalation andresolution.

  • Assist the business/development teams in the production cutover planning and preparations ofthe Data and Analytics solutions.

  • Drive the review and production deployments of Data and Analytics solutions to the ProductionData Lake environment.

  • Assist and support proof of concepts and new technology introductions for installation,configuration and validation.

  • Adopt a FastWorks mindset to support and operate Business data and analytics projects.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems,Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering from an accreditedcollege/university or equivalent

  • StrongDatabase, Data Warehouse, SQL experience (PostgreSQL, Oracle, Terradata, Greenplum, Hive).

  • Nice to have: familiarity with Cloud servicesand architecture

  • Strong experience with anyETL system

  • Good English skills (writtenand spoken).

  • Positive attitude and team player.

  • Familiaritywith Linux (e.g. RedHat, Oracle Linux, CentOS),experience in administration and scripting experience is more thanwelcome

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong experience in Advanced Analytics, Big Data,Data Warehousing or Business Intelligence (BI).

  • Abilityto work effectively across functions in a matrix environment.

  • Experience with BI, Reporting and/or Analytics.

  • Strong understanding of logical and physicaldata models, big data storage architecture, data modeling methodologies, metadata management,master data management, data lineage & data profiling.

  • Resourcefuland quick learner, with the ability to efficiently seek out, learn, andapply new areas of expertise , as needed.

  • Change oriented, with the ability to activelygenerates process improvements, support and drives change, and confront difficult circumstancesin creative ways.

  • Experiencewith scriptlanguages (e.g. Bash, Python)

  • Basic knowledgeof Javaprogramming and/or application servers

  • Any experience with DataIntegration technologies such as HVR is a plus
