IBM Senior Payroll Subject Matter Expert in BUDAPEST, Hungary

This role encompasses various activities to ensure smooth,timely and accurate Payroll operations, compliant with IBM regulations as well as local legal requirements. This involves working closely with IBM employees, managers, as well as other departments (eg Business Controls, Accounting, Finance).The MEA Senior payroll SME is responsible for ad-hoc projects across the region. Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously strive to deliver excellence in Customer

  • Handle complex inquiries the payroll practioners cannot answer timely (four working days turn around time)

  • Ensure full knowledge of IBM policies and external tax regulations

  • Be the payroll expert, identifying ideas and investigating those raised by other team members to ensure maximum efficiency in the payroll process and perform re-ingeneering if needed

  • Support MEA payroll teams and management in closing complex issues

  • Keep updated about the process changes in payroll and lead the implementation of changes in the operations

  • Keep updated about the latest Business Controls requirements and ensure that process documents are in line with them, properly and timely updated and approved in QMX whenever a change happens.

  • Lead the implementation of changes and manage projects to improve timeliness, accuracy and efficiency of the payroll processes.

  • Provide proactive support to management in case of internal or external audit.

  • Alert immediately management /BPO whenever a problem arises that may have serious impact on business (see guidelines regarding the handling of severity incidents) and client satisfaction

  • Project management: take the lead on projects within the department

  • Represent the Payroll team in cross-domain meetings and client visits

  • Identify training issues and take the lead in providing education program to the payroll practitioners and resolution

  • Develop and roll out Education for the Payroll team when preparing for new initiatives/changes

  • English: Fluent

  • Payroll and/or Accounting experience- two years minimum

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Drives good team work through clear and proactive communication and cooperation

  • Ability to work under own initiative, with minimal supervision in order to manage workload to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to tackle large volumes of work and maintain concentration on individual tasks in order to increase productivity

  • Ability to work across boundaries and form productive relationships with other departments.

  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and exercise integrity
