PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Digital Business Services drives software adoption ensuring customers implement and run what they buy whilst safeguarding maintenance and subscription. Our customers are looking to us to guide them through their digital journey and our mission is to lead servitization globally in the new digital economy. To achieve this we have three main priorities:

Move customers to the Cloud realize the digital enterprise and help our customers establish S/4HANA as their digital core. We therefore offer comprehensive services for every aspect of customers' software implementation or upgrade and operations, including continuous improvement, quality management, problem resolution, and knowledge transfer.

The strength of our Centers of Expertise, as part of Digital Business Services, is to have strong back office support for every customer engagement, providing Expertise on Demand, instant resolution of top pain points and fast access to best practices/information and instant quality assurance of recommendations and the improvement plan. This back office will fully support you while you are delivering services at our customers. Furthermore we provide all services through an efficient network that offers online access to our knowledge databases, best practices, and sophisticated tools such as the SAP Solution Manager.

In the role of a Support Engineer, you will work in the Center of Expertise (CoE) with focus on ABAP Performance optimization of solution operations and within a short time you will learn the SAP Solution secrets and gain a unique technical expertise.

JOB START

Within an extensive training phase, you will receive personalized and group training for specific product, technology and development knowledge. You will also receive on-the-job training fitted for your future responsibilities. Your personal mentor will help you to develop into your expert role by elaborating an individual development plan. After all training activities you will start delivering customer project services in a team together with our senior experts.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS:

  • Provide technical support to SAP customers in short and/or long-term engagements

o Root Cause Analysis of performance issues on various ABAP applications

o Providing recommendations to optimize standard and custom ABAP code

o Providing recommendations for system administration/basis for tuning performance

o Assessment of customer solutions identifying issues and risks

o Contribution in the area handling of global escalations, and evaluation of escalation requests

o Working in onsite or remote in service delivery teams as well as in SAP Backoffice, as technology expert

  • Willingness to travel to customer sites mainly in the EMEA region

  • Willingness to get engaged with and build knowledge on state-of-the-art software solutions in the future (e.g. cloud, in-memory database solutions, S4HANA etc.)

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required skills

  • Very good or good university degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Technical Engineering or in the area of Business Information Technology (BSc or MSc)

  • Good programming skills in ABAP or other comparable programming languages (C, C#, C , Java)

  • Excellent communication skills in English

  • European Citizenship

  • „Client first” attitude

  • Willingness to work in task-oriented global teams

  • Analytical skills

Optional but good-to-have skills

  • Experience with handling customers even in difficult situations

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:•

o ABAP programming

o OpenSQL and optimization of SQL access

o Parallelization, locking issues

o NetWeaver ABAP AS / BASIS administration

o Performance tuning

  • SAP product knowledge, especially in the area of ERP solutions

  • Any practical experience in software development or deployment or software quality•

  • Communication skills in German
