Release management is the process of managing, planning, scheduling and controlling a software build through different stages and environments; including testing and deploying software releases.
One goal of Continuous Delivery and DevOps is to release more reliable applications faster and more frequently. The movement of the application from a “build” through different environments to productions as a “release” is part of the Continuous Delivery pipeline.
Responsible for closely working with Engineering and Architecture teams to provide requirements and suggestions, monitor the product changes, understand the complexity, plan the release execution, and guide resources to bring the successful completion of release deployment goals and objectives. Direct activities, track and report progress, manage and resolve release execution related issues, and incorporate the changes to next release cycle.
•Responsible for the planning, organizing, and management of complex projects and cross-functional teams to bring about the successful completion of project goals and objectives.
•Lead automation teams and help develop toolset to reach our goal of attaining continuous delivery.
•Direct activities, track and report progress, manage and resolve implementation project issues, and successfully complete project within time constraints.
•Support application deployments and buildout of new systems in a SaaS / cloud environment
•Develop automation to quickly and rapidly deploy instances from hardened images
•Build and manage development and testing environments, assist automation engineers in debugging application issues using tools
•Take lead role in development of tools and processes to support the infrastructure and application buildouts
•Contribute to the creation of system support documents such as run books used by Operations
Knowledge/ Skills/ Expertise
•Extensive experience in developing automated deployment scripts and tools for system provisioning and configuration.
•Experience with deploying applications using containers (docker/kubernetes)
•Experience in Chef, Rundeck, CA Automic Release Automation and GitHub.
•Extensive experience in Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2, EBS in a highly available and scalable production environment in multiple availability Zones and regions.
•Capable of quickly troubleshoot complex problems, understanding dependencies and deducing the root issue.
•Team player who can jump in and use his or her broad experience to recommend and implement best practices.
•Ability to plan and execute necessary maintenance procedures and implementations with little or no supervision.
•Effectively manage and engage a technical team of engineers to ensure business outcomes are met.
