Eaton Corporation Senior Accountant (Hungary) in Budapest, Hungary

The primary function of this role is to make a wide range of accounting, analysis and forecasting activities for the Hungarian ledgers in the Budapest BSC.

The role provides financial leadership on statutory accounting/audits, corporation income tax and indirect tax accounting for the countries.

This function will closely operate with various Corporate Departments (Tax, Treasury, Accounting, Legal, others), WHQ Global Financial Accounting teams, the International Shared Service Centers (ISSC), and Operating divisions in Country. Acts as a liaison with the Shared Service Center and the ledgers in the country to ensure possible migration of transaction activities to the ISSC.

Supports the Controller in ensuring all goals and targets associated with internal controls, internal auditing, external audit, statutory reporting and financial advice are met.

Essential Functions:

  • Meet reporting deadlines for monthly, quarterly and year-end closings

  • Ensure compliance with Eaton financial policies, USGAAP, local statutory regulations, internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley.

  • Manage & improve financial controls & processes while mitigating issues.

  • Take part in Profit planning and rolling forecast activities for Facilities and Electricals’ activity centres and below the line expenses for the Budapest site growing up to 800 employees

  • Performs specialized analyses to support decisions, VAT balance calculation, Intrastat declaration, National Statistical reporting and WHT calculation.

  • Ensure ethical standards are maintained in a manner that accrues maximum benefit to Eaton across all divisions.

  • To co-ordinate and act as a consultant, in the provision of advice and technical assistance to World Headquarters, European shared service center and Treasury, on: central systems, technical accounting issues, VAT, fiscal matters, and compliance in accordance with fiscally acceptable criteria and risk management objectives

  • To advise, guide and support the implementation to the Hungarian ledgers of uniformity of financial accounting systems;

  • Statutory books: ensure that the statutory books are kept in accordance with local accounting rules; management of the accounting records concerning fixed assets local book, loan and related interests movements;

  • Statutory reports and audits: managing of the statutory accounts; participation in the statutory audits. Closely operate with the external providers.

  • Taxes: timely and accurate calculation of tax liability; conducting reconciliation between taxable income or loss and the net income or loss resulting from the statutory books; support external and internal tax audits including Tax Inspections.


  • Professional accounting qualification/university degree

  • 4-6 years of financial experience

  • Experience in finance/ accounting and auditing within a multinational (manufacturing) environment

  • Knowledge of US GAAP; exposure to Sarbanes Oxley

  • Knowledge of SAP - ORACLE

  • Excellent knowledge of Hungarian statutory reporting requirements

  • Experience of best practice implementation/end to end process improvement in accounting & reporting

  • Able to work as part of a team, adhere to company standard processes, practices & policies

  • Strong professional presence

  • Experience in deploying strategic change and building organizational capability

  • Excellent working knowledge of the English

  • Effective communication skill essential

  • Demonstrable continued personal development in both technical and behavioral areas
