IBM Special Handling Analyst in BUDAPEST, Hungary

Job Description

Special Handling (SH) is an activity of IBM Global Financing (IGF) Credit that consists of the management of the IGF suspense accounts portfolio, that of the IGF distressed accounts, and is also meant to identify potential oncoming risks.

The Special Handling Analyst's tasks include:

  • managing the suspense accounts portfolio and distressed accounts portfolio in agreement and under the directive from the Special Handling Manager, and in close cooperation with the Special Handling Group and the Credit Analysts team;

  • handling the restructuring actions for distressed customers, either directly or with IBM lawyers;

  • working closely with the other IBM and IGF functions to understand specific customer situations and is involved in determining the most appropriate course of action, including monitoring accounts receivable (AR) and performing regular AR reviews;

  • recommending Provision for Doubtful Accounts (PDA) and submitting write offs, making sure that all approvals are accurate and in place in line with guidelines;

  • maintaining the IMT Special Handling policies and processes up-to-date, and for ensuring a strong control posture;


The SH Analyst’s main priority is to minimize the IGF losses and maximize the recoveries for IGF. In order to achieve this, primarily the SH Analyst has to focus to:

  • Interact with external clients, understanding their business, corporate structure and current financial condition;

  • Negotiate debt restructuring plans and payment of aged account receivables;

  • Monitor portfolio of potential default accounts, giving advice regarding the risky accounts to the Credit Analysts.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge in credit, legal and accounting matters;

  • Able to read financial statements;

  • Good communication and problem solving skills

  • Good in team working;

  • Easiness to adapt to different tasks.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • German knowledge is an advantage
